Ein Herzstück der Aktionswoche „51 – 91 – 21“ ist die neue Broschüre zur Geschichte der US-Armee in Neu-Ulm, die ab sofort im Rathaus kostenlos erhätlich ist.
Das 14-seitige Faltblatt erläutert nicht nur die Geschichte der Zeit zwischen 1951 und 1991 sondern erzählt auch die Geschichte des Wiley-Areals in den Jahrzehnten zurvor sowie nach dem Abzug. In einem Stadtplan sind zudem Orte eingetragen, die ursprünglich von der US-Armee genutzt wurden und heute noch im Stadtraum zu finden sind, und damit die Geschichte weiterhin erlebbar machen. Neben den historischen Fakten sind auch einige kleine Geschichten die Bürgerinnen und Bürger dem Stadtarchiv erzählt haben (Die auf dieser Webseite unter dem Schlagwort „Stories“ zu finden sind) in die Broschüre eingeflossen die das Zusammenleben, aber auch das Leben auf dem Kasernengelände lebhaft erzählen.

A centerpiece of the special week „51 – 91 – 21“ is the new brochure on the history of the US Army in Neu-Ulm, which is now available free of charge at the town hall.
The 14-page brochure not only explains the history of the period between 1951 and 1991, but also tells the story of the Wiley area in the decades before and after the withdrawal. In addition, a map of the city shows places that were originally used by the U.S. Army and can still be found in the city today, thus making it possible to continue to experience the history. In addition to the historical facts, the brochure also includes a number of short stories that citizens have told to the city archives (which can be found on this website under the keyword „Stories“) that vividly recount the coexistence, but also the life on the barracks grounds.
